The Shipping and Ports Authority at the Israeli Ministry of Transport has released cargo traffic data for Israel's ports for May 2026. The figures show that total traffic (unloading and loading) stood at 4.977 million tons, a slight increase compared to April, which recorded 4.813 million tons.

 

Since the beginning of the year (January–May), 24.264 million tons of cargo have been handled at the ports.

 

According to the data, the volume of cargo unloading (imports) in May stood at 3.461 million tons, while the volume of cargo loading (exports) totaled 1.516 million tons.

 

 

Activity Breakdown by Regions and Ports

 

In terms of geographical and operational distribution, the Haifa Port area (including Haifa Port Company, Bay Port, and Israel Shipyards) concentrated the highest volume of activity in May, while the Ashdod Port area (including Ashdod Port Company and the South Port) showed stable activity figures.

 

Haifa Port Area: Haifa Port Company handled a total of 702,000 tons of cargo this month (544,000 tons in unloading and 158,000 tons in loading). The Bay Port terminal (SIPG) recorded traffic of 664,000 tons (460,000 tons in unloading and 204,000 tons in loading). Israel Shipyards Port handled 368,000 tons of cargo (all in unloading). In the bulk and energy sector in the northern region, Dagon Silos recorded traffic of 239,000 tons, and Tashan (Energy Infrastructures) stood at 382,000 tons.

 

Ashdod Port Area: Ashdod Port Company led the southern region with a total traffic of 1.782 million tons (1.191 million tons in unloading and 590,000 tons in loading). The South Port (HCT) handled 709,000 tons of cargo in May (481,000 tons in unloading and 228,000 tons in loading). The Ashdod fuel terminal recorded activity of 66,000 tons (all in loading).

 

Eilat Port: Activity at Eilat Port recorded a limited volume of only 7,000 tons in May, all unloading (imports), with no loading (export) activity.

 

Since the beginning of 2026, Ashdod Port Company has led general cargo traffic in Israel in terms of tonnage with a cumulative 8.560 million tons, followed by Haifa Port Company with 3.363 million tons, and the South Port (HCT) with 3.256 million tons.
