The management of the Haifa Municipality, led by Mayor Yona Yahav, and the management of the Port of Haifa, part of the Adani-Gadot Group, held an expanded working meeting aimed at institutionalizing and strengthening the strategic and economic cooperation between the city and the port. The meeting, held at the Botanica Hotel in the German Colony, was designed to lay the foundation for joint development initiatives that will bolster Haifa's status as a leading port and economic city in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The meeting was attended by the Municipality's CEO, David Luria; Deputy Mayor Sarit Golan; the Mayor's Chief of Staff, Paz Glickman; and the City Engineer. Representing the Port of Haifa were the company's President, Captain Sumit Chauhan; Acting CEO David Cohen; and senior members of the port's management.
Focus: Urban Waterfront and Maritime Tourism
During the meeting, the parties discussed a series of operational and structural issues regarding the physical and economic interface between the piers and the urban space:
* Waterfront Development: Advancing the project to open parts of the Western Port for entertainment, commercial, and cultural complexes.
* Leveraging the Cruise and Tourism Industry: Creating synergy between the port's passenger terminal and the city's hotels and businesses to efficiently accommodate tourists from international cruises.
* Improving the Urban Space: Logistic and infrastructural coordination to reduce the impact of port activities on traffic flow and quality of life in the city.
The port management and the municipality presented the ways in which the port serves as a central economic anchor today and examined future plans to ensure that infrastructure development at the port supports the city's demographic and employment growth.

Close cooperation is the key to advancing the waterfront, developing tourism, creating new jobs, and continuing to strengthen the local economy. David Cohen, Acting CEO of the Port of Haifa: "This was an important meeting, but it is only one of many. The professionals at the port are in regular contact with their counterparts at the municipality and maintain joint work throughout the year. The connection between the city and the port is of immense importance to both sides. This cooperation is not only necessary—it contributes greatly to Haifa's infrastructural and economic development."
