IMEC Economic Corridor: Haifa Port and Gadot Group Drive India-Europe Trade

Gadot Group presented its strategic vision this week as part of the international workshop for the IMEC conference. According to the group's position, the success of the planned India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) will not rely solely on traditional transport infrastructure, but on an advanced integration of logistical, operational, and industrial capabilities capable of connecting complex global supply chains.

The conference, initiated by the Institute for Maritime Policy and Strategy in collaboration with the Israeli Ministry of Regional Cooperation, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, and Netanya Academic College, brought together senior government officials, port heads, and industry and logistics leaders from Israel and abroad to promote the international project. Gadot Group was represented on the professional panel by Shahar Milman, CEO of Gadot Ecology Services, who discussed the technological and engineering challenges of implementing the IMEC corridor.

During the discussions, the group demonstrated how the synergy between the Port of Haifa—operated in partnership between Gadot and the Indian Adani Group—its chemical terminals, land storage and transport systems, and unique expertise in chemical logistics, creates a unified platform. This platform is capable of connecting India and the Gulf states with markets in Europe and the United States.

The central message presented was that realizing the IMEC vision and turning it into a practical commercial opportunity depends on the ability to connect port infrastructure with on-ground logistical solutions, particularly for the industrial and chemical sectors that require meticulous handling.

Prof. Shaul Chorev, Head of the Institute for Maritime Policy and Strategy, added: "At a time when global trade volumes with Asia continue to grow, while risks to shipping routes at strategic chokepoints such as the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb are increasing, the importance of the IMEC corridor grows significantly. Israel has a clear interest in the Port of Haifa serving as the corridor's gateway to Europe. The partnership between the Indian Adani Group and Gadot Group in operating the Port of Haifa gives the project an additional strategic dimension, especially since India is the starting point of the corridor."

Alongside Milman, the professional panel included Ashdod Port Chairman Shaul Schneider, Israel Ports Company (IPC) VP Shai Bakal, as well as representatives from Israel Railways, the National Cyber Directorate, and the infrastructure and technology sectors. Conference participants also included Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav and the Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Regional Cooperation, Gilad Shadmon.
