The Port of Haifa continues to solidify its position as a key player on the international trade map. This week, the port's management hosted the Greek Ambassador to Israel, Mia Solomo, and her professional team for discussions focused on deepening regional cooperation and advancing the vision of the IMEC corridor.
The India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) was the central theme of the meeting, with an emphasis on the expanding partnership between India, Israel, and Greece. According to the strategic vision, Indian ports (some of which are owned by the Adani Group, co-owners of the Port of Haifa) will serve as the points of origin, the Port of Haifa will function as the gateway to the Middle East, and the Port of Piraeus in Greece will serve as the final connection point to European markets.
Captain Sumit Chauhan, President of the Haifa Port Company, emphasized the importance of the timing: "The friendship between Greece and Israel is at an unprecedented peak. Together with the strong support of the US and India, this partnership is expected to significantly advance the IMEC vision and open new opportunities for regional economic growth."
The Port of Haifa, which is jointly owned by the port giant Adani Ports and the Israeli Gadot Group, noted that the meeting reflects the port's role as a major logistics hub connecting Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
The meeting was also attended by Liora Hadar, VP of Sales, and Shirley Helman Harush, CFO of the Port of Haifa, alongside senior representatives from the Greek Embassy.
