Members of the Manufacturers' Association of Israel (MAI) elected Avraham (Novo) Novogrotzky as the new president of the association on Wednesday. Novogrotzky, a well-known figure within the association's institutions with four decades of experience in industrial management, secured 523 votes against 219 votes received by candidate Tzuri Dabush.

The president-elect will succeed Dr. Ron Tomer, who served in the position for the past six years, a period that included navigating the COVID-19 crisis and the implications of the "Iron Swords" war on the global supply chain and domestic production.

In his first speech following his election, Novogrotzky emphasized that he views the role as a supreme national responsibility. According to him, the association must serve as the "spearhead of the economy" and provide a foundation for national resilience by strengthening "Blue and White" (Israeli-made) production and innovation.

Novogrotzky noted that the experience he gained working with decision-makers and regulators will be at the disposal of all industrial plants in Israel, and he invited additional manufacturers to join the organization's leadership to increase the manufacturing sector's influence on economic policy.

Outgoing President Dr. Ron Tomer congratulated his successor, noting that he is handing over a growing association and a thriving industry despite complex geopolitical challenges. Tomer emphasized that Israeli industry stands at a crossroads full of opportunities, particularly regarding global innovation and industrial productivity, and expressed confidence that under Novogrotzky's leadership, the organization will continue to act with unity and initiative in the face of the macroeconomic challenges awaiting the economy in the coming years.

For the trade and logistics community, the change in leadership at the Manufacturers' Association signals continuity in the effort to improve the competitiveness of Israeli exports. Novogrotzky, who brings deep familiarity with the complexities of industrial operations, is expected to lead an active policy against government ministries regarding input costs, the removal of barriers at the sea ports, and the promotion of labor employment—issues that are critical for maintaining production continuity and the efficient transport of freight to and from Israel.
