The Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) published today (Thursday) the foreign trade data for goods for Israel for July 2026. The data shows that the trade deficit in goods (excluding diamonds) amounted to 12.4 billion NIS in July.
Total imports of goods to Israel in this month stood at 28.9 billion NIS, while total exports amounted to only 16.6 billion NIS (excluding diamonds).
In the summary of the first seven months of the year (January–July 2026), the cumulative trade deficit stood at approximately 84.4 billion NIS, compared to approximately 78.6 billion NIS in the corresponding period last year.
Total cumulative imports since the beginning of the year amounted to 192.3 billion NIS (an increase from 189.6 billion NIS in 2025), while cumulative exports decreased to 107.9 billion NIS (compared to 111.0 billion NIS in the corresponding period).
Geographic Distribution: Europe Leads in Imports, America in Exports
Analysis of the original data for July 2026 indicates a diverse situation across global markets. Goods imported to Israel primarily came from European countries, which accounted for 47.6% of total imports. Asian countries provided 29.8% of the goods, 13.0% came from the Americas, and the remaining 9.6% of imports came from the rest of the world.
Conversely, the Israeli export map showed the Americas leading, receiving 34.1% of total goods exports. 29.2% of Israeli exports were directed to European countries, 25.0% to Asian countries, and the remaining 11.7% were shipped to other countries worldwide.
Notable Trends: Surge in Exports to the East, Growth in Imports from the USA
Trend data for May–July 2026 shows a recovery in general export indices, alongside structural changes in trade routes and supply chain resilience. Total exports of goods from Israel (excluding diamonds, ships, and aircraft) rose by an annual rate of 14.8% in May–July, following a 9.8% annual increase in February–April.
The most prominent figure in the export trend is a dramatic surge in demand from East Asia: exports to Asian countries soared by 54.0% on an annual basis (an average monthly increase of 3.7%), with exports to China alone jumping by 47.0% annually. Exports to the USA also showed impressive growth of 23.7%. In contrast, exports to European Union countries recorded a slight decrease of 0.2%.
On the import side, trend data shows an 11.4% annual increase in imports from Europe (and 7.5% from European Union countries), alongside a 12.5% increase in imports from the Americas (and 10.0% from the USA). Conversely, imports from Asia contracted by 3.5% annually, with imports from China decreasing by 7.7%.
