ZIM announced today (March 30, 2026) the expansion of its integrated sea-air shipping service, ZIM ON AIR, to Israel. The service is designed to provide a fast and efficient response to the Israeli market's import and export demands amid the current shortage of air capacity, while ensuring significant savings on high air freight costs.
As part of the service, ZIM will enable exporters and importers in Israel to transport goods using a combination of sea and air freight through Mediterranean ports, to and from key destinations in Europe, the USA, and Asia.
Eli Glickman, President and CEO of ZIM: "ZIM continues to put its customers at the center and act with flexibility and innovation to meet the needs of the Israeli economy even in challenging times. As a global company based in Israel, ZIM sees it as a mission to operate continuously at Israeli ports under any circumstances, even when other companies refrain from doing so, and to assist Israeli customers in importing and exporting goods."
It should be noted that this shipping model is not foreign to the Israeli market. Last June, as part of the "Am Ke-Lavi" operation, ZIM launched an identical service under the same brand to bypass the closure of airspace. Then, as now, the service was managed through the subsidiary ZIM LOG and focused on providing solutions for the high-tech, pharma, eCommerce, and spare parts sectors—fields that require short transit times and high reliability.
ZIM emphasizes that its vessels continue to call at Israeli ports as scheduled as part of its national commitment.
The service, which is already successfully implemented in international markets, offers customers three main shipping options:
| Shipping Route | Service Details |
|---|---|
| From Asia to Los Angeles | Expedited sea shipping with the best transit times in the market. |
| From Asia to the USA and South America | Expedited sea shipping to Los Angeles followed by land connection to inland destinations (New York, Miami, etc.) or air freight to selected destinations in South America. |
| From Asia to Europe | Expedited sea shipping to Los Angeles and continuation via air service to Frankfurt and Amsterdam. |
