Ashdod Port company reported last week a sharp increase in port activities. Number of containers, in TEU terms, moving through the port in May was up 30% compared to the parallel.
The report also noted that during May the port experienced 11% increase in traffic compared to May 2006 and 9% increase in traffic during the five months, January to May 2007, compared to the parallel.
The report also shows a sharp increase (21%) in the number of motor vehicles imported through the port – 28,683 units, in the five months, January to May 2007 compared to the parallel and an increase of 75% in the number of passenger ships calling at theport.
During the five months period 28 passenger ships called at the port bringing 33,126 tourists.
