The Israeli Ministry of Finance announced today the opening of a $150 million export transaction insurance line for Argentina. The move, promoted by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and the Accountant General's Department, aims to expand the activities of Israeli exporters in the South American market, against the backdrop of strengthening diplomatic relations and the improvement in Argentina's economic situation.
The opening of the line, carried out in cooperation with ASHRA - the Israel Foreign Trade Risks Insurance Corporation, represents the first stage in renewing insured economic activity between the countries after a hiatus of more than two decades. The new framework will allow Israeli exporters to receive government insurance for medium and long-term credit transactions of up to 15 years, which will significantly reduce trade risks and increase the competitiveness of Israeli companies in the region.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich noted that this move joins the opening of the direct flight route between the countries and represents news of mutual economic prosperity. The Accountant General, Michal Abadi-Boiangiu, added that this is a strategic step to expand the Israeli presence in international markets and strengthen the economy's growth engines.
ASHRA CEO David Klein emphasized that the company will provide exporters with advanced insurance solutions: "This is a high-potential market that is opening after a long period. We will support long-term transactions and examine the expansion of the framework according to demand arising from the field." Gil Cohen, Senior Deputy to the Accountant General and head of the Finance Division, noted that these financial assistance tools are critical for reducing risks in emerging markets.
In the foreign trade sector, it is estimated that the opening of the line will encourage exporters in the fields of infrastructure, agriculture, water, and energy to operate in Argentina, taking advantage of the positive diplomatic momentum. Exporters interested in further information are invited to visit the ASHRA website to submit applications.
