Agrexco noted that although the total citrus harvest exported this year is smaller, their share is bigger and includes premium fruit
 
Israel citrus season opened earlier this year at a time where competition from Turkey and Florida are late coming into markets due to cold spells which caused late ripening. Israel has enjoyed a rather mild weather allowing citrus to ripe earlier than expected.
 
Golda Ezuz, Manager of citrus division in Agrexco, informed last week that although the total citrus harvest exported this year from Israel is smaller, Agrexco's share in it is bigger and includes premium fruit.
 
Ezuz further elaborated that export of grapefruits, highly in demand for their nutritious benefits, will continue till May 2011.

Export of Navels will start in late November together with first harvest of Easy peelers: Mineola and Santina varieties. lemons will be exported starting from January 2011.


Ezuz noted that this year efforts will be made to increase exports of citrus to non European markets like Japan and South Korea.
