During the two weeks period prior to St. Valentine’s Day Israeli flower growers delivered over 100 million flowers to the US and Europe
 
Israel Flower Growers Association secretary general Haim Hadad said in a press release that 27 freighters, flown by El Al , Cargo Air Lines (CAL) and foreign airlines handled the shipments.
 
Hadad added that St. Valentine’s Day is known to be a peak export event for the Israeli flower growers, growing special highly popular red flowers.
 
Hadad also noted that this year target markets were the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Russia, the UK and the US.
 
Israel’s flowers centers are located at the northern parts of the Negev, Lachish region, Ha'Sharon, Emek Hefer, Yezreel Valley, Arava, and along the Jordan Valley. According to the Israel Flower Growers Association, Flower growers, exporters and airlines have set up a highly efficient distribution network for delivering flowers to Europe within 24-48 hours of being picked.
