South Korea’s flag carrier, Korean Air Cargo, announced last week a temporary suspension of its Incheon – Tel Aviv cargo flights.
In an announcement made last week by Cargo GSA, Korean Air Cargo GSA in Israel, the company said that the airline will resume regular cargo flights as from October 23. Until recently the airline operated five weekly flights on Seoul-Tel Aviv line, three combi flights and two cargo flights. A few months ago the airline cancelled one cargo flight and continue, until last week, serving the route with the second cargo flight per week.
Mr. Eran Zilberman, Director General Cargo GSA Israel, said in an interview with PORT2PORT that the agency had justified the decision taken by the airline since there was no commercial reasons to operate cargo services in time of global crisis.
Zilberman noted, however, that regular freighter services will resume operations in October. He added that the Israeli trading community will be well provided with the three weekly combi flights which can, together, transport90 tons per week.
