The carrier said itsfuel charges would rise US$5 for short-haul flights, US$10 for medium-haul flights, such as Europe, and US$25 for long-haul flights
El Al Israel Airlines announced last Thursday it was raising fuel surcharges by up to USD$25 per flight sector, effective May 21. The company said that the increase was in response to rising global oil prices.
In a statement the company noted that " the price of oil surpassed US$60 a barrel, an 80% increase from its level of US$33 in January 2009”.
The carrier said itsfuel charges would rise US$5 for short-haul flights, US$10 for medium-haul flights, such as Europe, and US$25 for long-haul flights, not including its new route to Brazil. The charges will not, however, apply to tickets bought with frequent flyer miles.
