Internal report prepared by the statistics department of the Israel Airports Authority show that El Al's share of the Israeli passenger market is dropping.
According to the report, between January 2007 to October of 2007, the airline saw its overall market share down to 35.8%, compared to 40.3% for the same period of 2006.
The number of passengers flying El Al in that 10 months period, was 3.13 million, up only 1.6% form the same period of 2006.
El Al responded to the report saying the figures did not take into account that due to high security costs El Al had cut flights to Turkey, and excluding these flights. A statement issued by the airline noted that the company actually increased its market share this year.
