Arkia Airlines, Ltd., an Israel-based provider of passenger and cargo air transportation services, is in talks to acquire Montenegro Airlines and to invest in hotels in the Balkan country.
Founded in the year 1994, 24th October, Montenegro Airlines, is the national airline of Montonegro. This airline served both internationally and domestically. The main hub of Montenegro Airlines is Podgorica Airport and the second base is locates at Tivat Airport. The main international destinations of Montenegro Airlines are as follows: Zurich and Rome
Montenegro Airlines has a fleet of eight planes.
During a visit to Israel last week, Montenegro Prime Minister, Milo Djukanovic, and Tourism Minister, Predrag Nenezic, met Arkia owner, Avi Nakash, and CEO, Gadi Tepper, about a possible deal.
During the visit by Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic to Israel on Monday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed the interest of Israeli investors in the Montenegrin economy. In a separate meeting, President Shimon Peres said that Montenegro is an excellent example of a multi-ethnic community, which could serve as a model for bigger countries.
President Peres noted that there are plenty of possibilities for promoting economic cooperation between the two states. He emphasised that Israeli entrepreneurs are very interested in investing in Montenegro, especially in the areas of tourism and infrastructure. PM Peres underlined the importance of Montenegro’s role in the stability of the Balkans, which he said makes it particularly attractive for foreign investment.
