An Israeli TV station, Channel 2 TV, reported last week that the captain of "Zim Asia", a 3,429-TEUcontainer ship that rammed a Japanese fishing boat"Shinsei Maru", killing seven people, was sentenced to a year of community service in a plea bargain.
According to the report, the prosecution accepted the plea bargain because Japanese witnesses to the incident were either unable or unwilling to arrive to Israel to testify in a trial.
