The direct weekly container line, North Europe Line (NEL), which connects Israel with ports in North Europe, is resuming operations at Haifa Port.
The line, jointly operated by international shipping companies Yang Ming and Ocean Network Express (ONE), will provide a regular weekly service for both imports and exports.
Yesterday (March 30), the container ship YM CREDIBILITY of Yang Ming, the first feeder for the renewed service, docked at Haifa Port. The new-old line will connect Haifa Port with the ports of Damietta (Egypt), Southampton (UK), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Hamburg (Germany), and Antwerp (Belgium), offering a fast maritime trade link between Israel and Europe.
The service includes the option for southbound rail transport, which will provide an improved solution for customers from the southern region of the country, and will allow more efficient access to export and import activities through Haifa Port.
Liora Hadar, Vice President of Business Development at Haifa Port Company, noted that "the return of the NEL service reflects the great confidence that shipping companies Yang Ming and ONE place in Haifa Port and its capabilities. This is a move that will enable continued growth in container traffic and create new opportunities for customers at the port."
Hadar Moreno, Operations Manager at Conmart, representative of Yang Ming in Israel said: "Yang Ming believes in the Israeli market and continues to operate direct services to Haifa Port. The collaboration with the port allows us to expand the options for southern customers, through fast land transfer to Ashdod Port - so you can enjoy both operational flexibility and fast service."
It should be noted that the return of the service is taking place during a period of growth in container traffic and activity at Haifa Port, which is one of the main gateways for Israel's international trade.
