Yesterday, an official visit was held by the Indian Ambassador to Israel, Mr. Jitendra Pal Singh, at Haifa Port, jointly owned by India's Adani Ports and Israel's Gadot Group. During the visit, the ambassador toured and received an explanation about the current port operations, how the port has been dealing with recent security challenges, and was given an overview of future development plans.
The Indian ambassador was hosted at the port by Captain Sumit Chauhan, President of Haifa Port, and members of the port management. The visit took place against the backdrop of extensive ties between India and Israel, and as part of the shared vision to promote the India-Middle East-Europe (IMEC) economic corridor. As part of this corridor, Haifa Port is expected to serve as the main maritime gateway to the Mediterranean for goods coming from and going to India, Europe, and the United States.
Captain Sumit Chauhan, President of Haifa Port on behalf of Adani Group, said, "We are proud to host Ambassador Singh and highlight the depth of the relationship between India and Israel. Haifa Port has significant operational capabilities and is expected to be a strategic anchor for the international project aimed at creating a maritime and terrestrial corridor from Asia to Europe."
At the end of the visit to the port, in collaboration with the Haifa History Association, the ambassador continued his visit to the Indian cemetery in Haifa, in memory of the Indian army soldiers who fell in the battle for the liberation of Haifa in the First World War.
