The Israel Ports Company has announced the completion of restoration work on the southern part of the main pier at Eilat Port. This is a central phase in a multi-year process to restore the entire pier, as part of preparations for the port's return to full operation.
The work, coordinated with the port management, included the restoration and strengthening of the pier structure, underwater work to ensure the stability of its constructive parts, reinforcement against earthquakes, storm damage repair, and the laying of concrete mattresses to stabilize the seabed and maintain a suitable depth for anchoring ships.
The completion of the southern restoration joins the restoration of the northern part, which was done about five years ago, and constitutes the second stage out of three. Now, after the Israel Ports Company has completed the restoration work at both ends of the pier, the company is preparing for the next stage: the restoration of the central part - which will complete the process and ensure a renewed, safe, and efficient pier for years to come.
The Chairman of the Israel Ports Company, Hazi Haleviya, stated: 'The completion of the restoration in the southern part is a significant step towards the return of Eilat Port to full operation. The port is a vital anchor for the south of the country, and its restoration ensures its continued function as a central link in the national supply chain. This is another important stage in strengthening Israel's maritime infrastructure.'
The CEO of the Israel Ports Company, Pinchas Tsruya, added: 'The work carried out on the main pier was done according to the highest standards of maritime engineering. Now, after we have finished the second stage, with the stabilization of the security situation, we are preparing to start the restoration of the central part and return the port to regular and safe operation. The Israel Ports Company is committed to acting quickly and responsibly to ensure functional continuity for the benefit of the Israeli economy.'
The Israel Ports Company reported that the company continues to prepare for the reception of ships with the return of the port to operation, which includes engineering and operational coordination with all professional factors, advanced fitness tests, and the completion of full logistical preparations.
