OECD Senior Officials Visit Ashdod Port

Senior officials from the OECD visited Ashdod Port as part of a special conference on the future of government companies from an international perspective.

As part of an official visit by a senior delegation from the OECD to Israel, Antonio Julio Gomez, Deputy Director for Financial and Business Affairs at the organization, Sarah Sultan, Head of the Government Companies Unit at the OECD, Hila Gluzman, Deputy Ambassador and Head of the Treasury Department's delegation to the OECD, and Roee Kahlon, Director of the Government Companies Authority, visited Ashdod Port.


Senior executives from government infrastructure companies also participated in the meeting, hosted by Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ashdod Port, Shaul Schneider, and the port's CEO, Nissan Levi.


The meeting at the port was held as part of a special conference titled 'Innovation, Responsibility and Governance - The Future of Government Companies from an International Perspective', led by the Government Companies Authority and in collaboration with the management of Ashdod Port.


The topics discussed at the conference included a comprehensive review of Ashdod Port and its operation as a strategic national infrastructure facility, alongside a business review that dealt with the success of Ashdod Port as a government company competing against privately held ports owned by foreign entities. In addition, the port's accelerator for start-up companies and the port's investments were presented, as well as the unique study program that the port operates in collaboration with Ben-Gurion University and the National Cyber ​​System.


The meeting's agenda included opening remarks by the Chairman of the Port's Board of Directors, Mr. Shaul Schneider, a lecture by Ms. Sarah Sultan from the OECD, a professional panel on corporate responsibility and innovation, a tour of the port, and a festive dinner. The event was held in English and served as a platform for international discussion on future trends in government companies and the importance of transparency and corporate governance.
