Ashdod Port to Invest 1.5 Billion Shekels in Port Infrastructure

Ashdod Port is investing 1.5 billion shekels in strategic infrastructure upgrades, including the acquisition of advanced cranes and the expansion of container storage areas.

Ashdod Port Company is making strategic investments in port infrastructure, estimated at 1.5 billion shekels. This is part of a comprehensive strategic plan to streamline and develop infrastructure and convert berths into specialists according to segments to ensure functional continuity for the economy.

Among the investments: Equipping with 12 electric ERTG cranes at a cost of a quarter of a billion shekels, establishing a dedicated electrical substation at a cost of about 180 million shekels, expanding the container storage area in the rear of berth 21 at a cost of about 100 million shekels for receiving and storing another 4,000 containers, equipping with advanced arm cranes at an investment of 120 million shekels and additional investments.

Ashdod Port Company is launching the second phase in upgrading berth 21, at a total investment cost of half a billion shekels, during which a project to establish a container storage area in the rear of the berth, equipping with 12 RETG cranes, establishing a transformation station and an electrical substation will be carried out. As part of the project, the establishment of a transformation station (transformer room) has been completed, which will serve to convert high-voltage electrical energy to low-voltage electrical energy. In addition, the establishment of a dedicated electrical substation for the port has been completed, which will serve as a central and stable power supply point and will ensure functional continuity for the port. The facility was built to allow reliable, vital and significant power supply for the operation of the port systems continuously and safely. A dedicated electrical substation at a cost of about 180 million shekels to supply electricity for ships and feed electric cranes, expanding the storage capacity of refrigerated containers in the rear of berth 21 and also serves as a backup station for an emergency scenario to allow functional continuity.

Ashdod Port Company is equipping with advanced arm cranes at an investment of about 120 million shekels, this, as part of a streamlining and development plan for berths 7 and 9 for berths specializing in general cargo and bulk, at a total investment cost of half a billion shekels. These are advanced arm cranes with a maximum working radius of 48 meters, which are designed to handle general cargo and bulk, as well as, special projects weighing up to 124 tons, which will be a significant addition to the operational capacity for such cargoes on the berth capable of receiving ships weighing up to 100,000 tons.
