"MSC Nerissa" a TEU 5,060 was the largest container ship ever to call at the port of Ashdod. The ship, 295 meters long, called the ports last week and according to the company will operate, for a short period of time, between North European ports, Ashdod, Alexandria (Egypt) and Mersin (Turkey).
Mr. Edni Simkin, director general of Mayron Shipping, MSC local agent, said that the ship will run for a short period of time between north European ports and Ashdod in order to solve certain logistic problems created by the longest ever Israeli ports strike.
Mr.Yossi Bassan, deputy director general of the port said that the port was pleased to have such a ship which required certain logistic challenges for the port and its workers. He added that MSC was Ashdod's largest client in recent years.
