French actress Juliette Binoche is in Israel to film Amos Gitai's new movie, "disengagement" in which she portrays a woman who embarks on a journey to find her estranged daughter who was raised on a kibbutz
 
Parts of the film were shot in the port of Ashdod where the actress managed to meet Mrs. Iris Shtark, chairperson of the port of Ashdod company, who welcomed the actress on her first visit to Ashdod.
 
The new film, which is an Israel-French-Italian co-production, takes place to the backdrop of the disengagement from the Gaza Strip and the riots in France.
