Evergreen Line announced last week the inauguration of a new direct container service to Haifa from the Far East. The new service will run along the following route: Hong Kong, Nansha, Ningbo, Shanghai and Tanjung Pelepas.
Evergreen announced it will began the service with a single vessel M/V Ital Ordine, in September this year. In October a second vessel will join and in November the service will enter into it final plan, a weekly call.
Mr. Ohad Vered, director general of Green Shipping, Evergreen's port agent in Israel said in an interview with P2P correspondent that Evergreen has been for over 8 years in Israel and gradually improving its frequencies and quality of services.
Vered added that the transit time to Haifa would be: From Shanghai – 22 days; From Ningbo – 21 days; From Nansha – 18 days; From Hong Kong – 16 days; From Tanjung Pelepas – 12 days.
The service will continue from Haifa to Limassol, Pireaus and Istanbul.
Evergreen Marine Corporation is part of the Evergreen Group conglomerate of transportation firms and associated companies. Evergreen calls on 240 ports worldwide in about 80 countries, and is the fourth largest company of its type, ranked behind Maersk, Mediterranean Shipping Company and CMA CGM.
The company operates 161 container vessels with a total capacity of TEU 548,000. in the next few years 24 new ships will join the fleet increasing container capacity to TEU 655,000.
