Ashdod Port company signed last week in Genoa, Italy, a deal with China Shipping group, one of the largest shipping companies in the world. Under the new agreement, China Shipping will dock each week at least one ship at the port of Ashdod.
According to a press release, Ashdod Port company and China Shipping group also agreed to cooperate on the trans-oceanic AMAX shipping route, regarded in Israeli shipping circles as one of the most important shipping routes.
The Ashdod Port press release emphasized that the cooperation with China Shipping group would, for the first time, open a direct trade route between Far Eastern ports, the US, and Ashdod.
