COSCO has decided to rearrange the schedule of its Asia/Mediterranean "AMX" service to call at Haifa.
COSCO is now offering a weekly, short transit time service with fixed day of loading, connecting Far Eastern ports Shanghai, Hong Kong , Shekou and Singapore with Israel and west Med ports: Naples, Fos, Barcelona, Valencia.
The service operates 7-8 container ships which have 3,800 TEU capacity each. The first vessel " Empress Heaven" expected to sail from Shanghai on august 25th and call at Haifa on September 11th .
The new Haifa service will join the present Cosco's Cosmed service which offers a weekly direct sailing from Haifa & Ashdod to and from Genoa and Marseille.
The newly inaugurated AMX service will enable Cosco's local agent, Carmel Shipping, to widen its basket of services to the Israeli trading community by adding an additional weekly sailing to west Med ports.
Mr. Sami Nyego, director general of Carmel Shipping said that the new service is one of the most interesting to the Israeli shippers. It calls at the main ports of the Far East and offers fast transit time.
