The Nitzana border crossing stopped all cargo movements from Egypt to Israel following shooting incident on the Egyptian side of the border.
It is understood that dozens of Bedouins armed with rocket-propelled grenades ambushed Egyptian guards at the Nitzana border crossing with Israel on Tuesday, injuring two people, police said.
Mr. Felix Panias, director of the border crossing operations at UTi Israel noted that the shooting was the result of government objection to Bedouins claiming illegal payments from trade & industry, for allowing cargo to cross into Israel.
The Bedouins, according to the Egyptian Authorities, set fire to a police car and shot at the tires of trucks laden with goods, preventing them from crossing to Israel. It is understood that the attack followed a protest march opposing the arrest of two Bedouins from the Tarabin tribe.
