The Israel Ports Company (IPC) and the Haifa Municipality signed an agreement today (Thursday) to develop a new logistics and employment complex in the northern part of the city. The ceremony was held at the Haifa Municipality's Crisis Management Center (CMC), attended by Mayor Yona Yahav, City CEO David Luria, and IPC CEO Pinhas Zeruya.

The project, spanning approximately 200 dunams (50 acres), is designed to strengthen the logistics hinterland of Haifa's ports and improve the Israeli economy's supply chain resilience. The investment is estimated at NIS 42 million and will include public infrastructure development, road construction, and the establishment of an advanced logistics zone, alongside urban connectivity to Kishon Park, the Shavit Anchorage, and Haifa Airport.

Under the plan, IPC will lead the infrastructure development in the complex. Alongside logistics activities, commercial and service areas will be established near the Shavit Anchorage, including restaurants and leisure centers, aiming to transform the maritime space into an active urban hub accessible to the public. The planning was conducted in coordination with the Kishon River Authority to ensure proper environmental integration.

Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav stated: "This agreement is a strategic move for Haifa's economic future. The Kishon and port area is one of our most significant growth engines. The connection between advanced industry and open maritime space will contribute to the local economy and residents for many years to come."

IPC Chairman Hezi Halauia added: "The development of this logistics complex will strengthen Haifa's status as a leading maritime center and create new employment opportunities. We are working to upgrade the area around the Shavit Anchorage and turn it into a recreation hub that connects the public to the sea."

The Israel Ports Company plans to begin marketing the plots in the complex during 2027. This move marks a new era in "Port-City" relations in Haifa, emphasizing the utilization of land reserves to enhance Israel's logistics capabilities.

IPC CEO Pinhas Zeruya noted: "This is a strategic project. In five years, the area will transform from what is currently the city's outskirts into a vibrant center of activity. The close cooperation with the municipality is a key component in the success of this move."

Haifa Municipality CEO David Luria said: "This is a correct model for cooperation that creates a development sequence between the port and the urban space. The goal is to integrate employment, transportation, and the sea into a single focal point that serves both the economy and the city's residents."
