In a statement issued last week by the Tax Authority the Authority noted that the economy was growing at a faster rate than previously expected.
Figures released by Israel Tax Authority indicated that imports, excluding diamonds, totaled in August 2005, $3.34 billion, 14% more than in July, and 7% more than in August 2004.
Imports in January-August 2005, excluding diamonds, totaled $23.95 billion, 15.7% more than in the same period of last year.
Fuel imports in August totaled $107 million, 40% more than in August 2004. Fuel imports in January-August 2005 totaled $848 million, 22% more than in the same period of last year. Revenue from fuel - tax was NIS 45 million in August, 398% more than in August 2004.
In January-August revenue from fuel - tax was NIS 338 million, 25.6% more than in the same period of last year.
