Plants production and marketing board reported last week that Israel’s vegetable exports rose 20% in 2004-05 season to 395,000 tons.
In a statement issued late last week the board noted that the main export market for Israeli vegetables is Europe, which accounts for 80% of vegetable exports. The UK accounts for 60% of total exports to Europe. 20% of vegetable exports go to the US market.
The board added that potatoes accounted 60% of vegetable exports, however financially, potato export revenue fell to 20% of total vegetable export proceeds, compared with 30% a year before.
Pepper exports rose 10% to €106 million, and spices exports reached €70 million.
