Mr. Avi Paz was elected last week president of the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE). Paz replaces Mr. Shmuel Schnitzer, who served three consecutive terms as IDE president.
Three candidates ran for the post of president - Avraham (Bumi) Traub, Avi Paz and Avner Haimoff.
On the first round of voting, that took place on April 18. Paz and Traub, eceived the most votes.
Both competed for the presidency during the second round. In the second round Paz received 53.77% of the votes, while Traub received 46.23%.
IDE members also elected a new board of directors. The new elected board members are: Ilan Samuel, Yossi Siani, Hagai Halevi, Yehezkel Blum, Ishai Topel, Yitzhak Cohen, Yair Sahar , Yehuda Sayag Jacob (Cobi) Korn, Shlomo Rabinowitz, Meir Wertheim, Yoram Harel-Haimoff, Nissim Chen, Estie Wertheimer and Rafi Yerushalmi.
Former president Mr. Schnitzer, was elected Honorary Life President last week at the bourse's annual general meeting. Schnitzer is also president of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses.
