The new technology is the basis for a U.S.–Israel hydrogen fueling demonstration on the feasibility of using hydrogen as a fuel for buses

The U.S. Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC) Foundation received last week U.S. patent approval for a system that produces high-pressure hydrogen on-demand.

The new technology is the basis for a U.S.–Israel hydrogen fueling demonstration on the feasibility of using hydrogen as a fuel for buses in North Dakota and Tel Aviv, Israel.

The EERC technology converts alcohol, or liquid fuels such as ethanol, methanol and gasoline, to high-pressure hydrogen at the time of fueling.

In a statement issued by the EERC it said that the new process will eliminate the infrastructure costs of nationwide distribution and storage and make hydrogen both accessible and affordable.
The hydrogen is produced on-site, on-demand at the fuel pump, rather than at a separate location.
