Labor dispute at the Environment Ministry halts cargo clearance at Israeli ports

Goods classified as radioactive and poisonous are stuck at ports awaiting approval by Ministry officials
 
The Israeli Federation of International Freight Forwarders & Customs Clearing Agents complained last week that imported goods which require the approval of the Environment Ministry,cannot be cleared due to labor dispute at the Ministry.
 
In a statement issued by the federation it was noted that goods classified as radioactive and poisonous are stuck at ports awaiting approval by Ministry officials.
 
Dr. Stilian Gelbard, head of the workers committee, blamed the government for not willing to conduct proper negotiation to bring an end to the dispute. Dr. Gelbard noted that employees at the Environment Ministry were the lowest paid civil servants in the Israeli Government.
