In a first of its kind seminar held at the Tel Aviv Chamber of Commerce, Customs officials met Israeli importers to receive tips which will assist in identifying faked goods imported to Israel.
Combating piracy and counterfeiting is a top priority for the Israeli Customs Directorate which has invested great deal of efforts to prevent such illegal trade.
The heads of the Israeli Customs Directorate repeatedly said that counterfeiting and piracy threaten people's safety and economic growth.
In 2007 the Customs managed to uncover 383 import shipments with faked products compared to 349 in 2006.

According to data released by the Chamber Israel was loosing annually US$91 million in revenue due to counterfeiting.
