Mr. Ehud Ulmert, Israel’s deputy prime minister and minister for industry trade and communication reached an agreement with Mr. Fredric Blockstein Europe’s customs commissioner, concerning Israel’s exports from the occupied territories.
The issue has been the subject for discussions between Israeli and European officials over the last few years. The last differences were apparently bridged during the high level meeting in Brussels and was later approved by Mr. Chris Paten, Europe’s foreign relation commissioner .
The agreement requires Israel to clearly indicate on the EUR1 movement certificate the exact geographical location where goods, shipped to Europe, were produced, e.g. Israel – Barkan, Israel – Be’er Sheba etc,
Mr. Ulmert said that the new agreement will undoubtedly bring an end to a long period of deep differences between Israel and the E.E.C .
