Israel's CPI Rose 0.3% in June, Higher Than Expected

The CPI rose 0.1% in May 2014 and has risen 0.5% over the past 12 months, well below the government's 1-3% inflation target range

The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reported that Israel's Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.3% in June.

 

The CPI was slightly higher than analysts' expectation of 0.2%. The CPI rose 0.1% in May 2014 and has risen 0.5% over the past 12 months, well below the government's 1-3% inflation target range.

 

According to the CBS there were notable rises in the prices of clothing and footwear (10%) and housing costs (0.3%). The notable falls were in prices of fresh fruit (8.5%), fresh vegetables (1.4%), and food (0.3%).
