Histadrut Labor Union chairman Ofer Eini officiallyannounceda labor dispute in light of the price rises in gas, bread, water and more
Histadrut Labor Union chairman Ofer Eini said last week that in light of the price rises in gas, bread, water and more, “the time has come to say ‘enough.’”.
Eini officially announceda labor dispute, paving the way for a general nationwide strike two weeks later.
The move means that after a 14-day mandatory cooling off period, a general strike can be called. Various public protests are planned before then.
Histadrut Chairman Ofer Eini criticized Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's policy of cutting taxes to companies and wealthy residents, while raising taxes on quotidian items like fuel, bread, and water, which are indirect and impact the country's poor and middle class. The National Union of Israeli Students announced that it would join the Histadrut.
