The number of unemployed amounting to 216,000 persons and still rising. Since July 2010, when it was 6.5% and up from 6.6% in August
The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reported last week that on the basis of trend figures in its Labor Force Survey the unemployment rate rose to 6.8% of the civilian labor force in November 2010, amounting to 216,000 persons.
The unemployment rate has been rising since July 2010, when it was 6.5% and up from 6.6% in August. The statistics bureau revised the October unemployment rate from 6.6% to 6.8%.
The unemployment rate fell from 7.3% in October 2009 to 6.5% in March 2010. Since these are trend figures, they should be treated with caution, as they are liable to frequent changes.
The highest unemployment rate (9.9%) was in the South, followed by the North (9.5%), the Sharon region (5.5%), the Jerusalem area (3.8%) and the Dan region.
The number of job seekers fell from 201,075 in December to 203,665 in November, or down 1.3% in seasonally adjusted terms.
