Mr. Yechiel Asia, Director General of the Export Institute said that he expects a sharp increase ( 20% ) in the export of semiconductors, in 2004, to $2.1 billions.
In a statement given by Mr. Asia, in advance of last week's ( 31.8.04 ) special event to promote the Israeli semiconductor industry, held at the David Intercontinental Hotel, he noted that total semiconductors consumption in world markets will increase this year by 51%, compared to last year, and will amount to $44.8 billions.( the estimate is based on forecast made by Gartner, a world leader in industrial information).
Asia noted that the increase in demand can be largely attributed to depletion of stocks that were built up over the last few years during which demand was low.
Asia added that the Israeli semiconductors industry is highly important to the local hi-tech industry and provides not only the production capacity but also engaged in the design, packing and quality testing.
Seven editors of international professional media from Japan, USA ,Europe and China were invited to the promotion event. The export institute also invited trade representatives from Korea, USA, France, Italy,Taiwan and China and representatives from Intel, Tower Semiconductors, Nova, Applied Materials,Tevet,Nano or, Ricor and National Semiconductors.
