The conference discussed ways to tighten commercial ties between Israel and European countries, in view of the decline in bilateral trade
For the first time, Eurochambres - Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Affiliated and Correspondent Members) met in Israel last week, 08-09.09.2009.
The Eurochambres, also known as the umbrella organization for all the European chambers of commerce and industry, incorporates 46 members: 45 national associations of chambers of commerce and Industry and one transnational chamber organization, as well as a European network of 2,000 regional and local chambers. It is the largest business organization in the world, and one of the most influential organizations on European economic policymaking and for the promotion of global trade.
The two days conference was initiated by Mr. Uriel Lynn ,President, Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce and Member of the Board of Eurochambres and organized by The Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce (FICC) which represents the interests of Israel's business sector, including exporters and importers, wholesalers and retailers, services and manufacturers.
EUROCHAMBRES' President Pierre Simon noted in the opening speech that Israel has an important role in tightening ties between EU members and non EU members.

Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce president Uriel Lynn said that large and established companies should stop demanding government support for R&D, and that government should support R&D incubators and weak industries, not big companies.
