The Director General of the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Yossi Bachar, has left on Sunday (23/01/05) for a week-long working visit to Singapore and Hong Kong.
In Singapore, the Director General will meet with the Singapore Minister of Finance and his Director General. The sides will exchange views on a range of topics including attracting of foreign investment, encouragement of research and development, structural reforms in taxation, the capital market, labor, education, and privatization. The Director General will also meet with representatives of the Singapore–Israel binational R&D fund, the Director General of the Singapore telecommunications company, and representatives of venture-capital funds.
During his visit to Hong Kong, the Director General will participate in the Asia Pacific 2005 conference, organized by the Citibank group. Dr. Bachar will present the conference participants, including institutional investors from all over Asia, with Israel’s economic policy and the structural reforms that have been implemented in the past two years. He will also meet with his Hong Kong counterpart and the Chair of the Hong Kong securities authority.
Dr. Bachar will return to Israel on January 30, 2005.
