The White House announced early Friday that the tariff imposed on Israeli exports to the US will stand at 15%. This is only a two percent reduction from the original tariff rate announced by Trump in April. The tariffs are expected to take effect this week, on August 7.

President of the Manufacturers Association, Dr. Ron Tomer, responded to Trump's statement, expressing regret over the US President's decision to impose a 15% tariff on Israel. According to Dr. Tomer, "It would have been appropriate to expect Israel's great friend to further reduce the tariff to a level that would reflect the closeness and special relationship between Israel and the US - in all areas, including economic and industrial ones."

The Association's president added: "We thank everyone who was involved in the negotiations and look forward to continuing the negotiations in order to tighten cooperation in other strategic areas. The Israeli industry is a close trading partner of the US, and we call on the government to take advantage of this and start budgeting and creating significant plans for industrial development, attracting investments to Israel and encouraging exports."

The Treasury Department stated: "The tariff rate set by the US against Israel is at the lower end among the countries that have a trade deficit with the US, and it is lower than the rate set for Israel on April 2. Including Israel in this group reflects the positive dialogue and conversation between Israel and the government. These contacts continue with the aim of reaching a full and improved agreement."
