Israel's consumer price index rose 0.1% for the month of November, putting annual inflation at 2.3%, the Central Bureau of Statistics reportedlast Wednesday.
The annual inflation rate stands slightly above the midpoint of the government's annual inflation target (1-3%).
Economists had generally expected a rise of 0.3%. November's CPI was influenced primarily by rising prices recorded in the following consumer fields:shoes and clothing prices(2.2%),petrol for autos (+2.7%), transportation and media (1.1%) and health (0.5%).
The housing price index was flat on the month, but up 3.9% on the year, the Central Bureau of Statistics noted. Fruits and vegetables (-3.7%) was the key decliner. The prices of cucumbers fell 27%, and tomato prices fell 16%.
