The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reported last week that the unemployment rate was unchanged at 6.6% of the civilian labor force in the fourth quarter of 2010, or 211,000 persons. 2.98 million persons were employed in the fourth quarter.
The unemployment rate for 2010 as a whole fell to 6.6% from 7.5% in 2009, and the number of employed persons rose by 97,000.
The largest increase in employment - 16,000 persons - was in the real estate, renting and business sectors, to 429,000 persons during the year. High-tech employees accounted for 8.9% of all employees in Israel in 2010, the same proportion as in 2009.
