Following three years of continuous slow down in exports to South Korea exports, excluding diamonds, in 2004 was up by 35% to $370 millions. High -Tech exports was up by 59%.
Mr. Yechiel Asia, director general of the Israel export institute believed that further increase of 15%-20% will take place in 2005.
In a press release issued before the departure of an Israeli trade delegation headed by Mr. Ehud Olmert, Minister for trade & industry to South Korea Mr. Asia said that exports of the High-Tech industries ( drugs & medicines, telecommunication equipment, office computers, house electronic appliances, optical equipment, surgical & hospital equipment, measuring equipment and navigation equipment) reached $260 millions.
Metal industry increased it exports by 56% to $28 millions. Plastic & rubber industry was up by 107% to $17.5 millions. Chemical exports was 32% up to $47 millions, furniture, paper and printing 18% up to $3 millions.
Asia added that foods and beverage exports to South Korea, in 2004, was down by 23% to $4 millions.
