the Open Skies policy adopted by the IAA will bring about a large increase of cheap and charter flights to the airport
Terminal 1, the old terminal at Ben-Gurion International Airport, will be opened this summer for low-cost flights.
In a statement issued last week by the Israel Airports Authority (IAA) it was noted the Open Skies policy adopted by the authority will bring about a large increase of cheap and charter flights to the airport bringing many overseas visitors.
The authority added that the cost of preparing the old terminal to cater for low cost flights will be about NIS 35 million.
Terminal 1 will undergo only minor renovations before the peak summer season starting in July, and only after the peak season ends the authority will begin the major upgrades, which will last from October 2008 up to June 2009.
