Sun D’Or grounding jeopardises plans for Maldives flights

Sun D’Or International has had its license to operate as an airline revoked by the Israeli authorities 
 
Israel's Sun d’Or International Airlines, El Al Israel Airlines' wholly-owned charter subsidiary, which earlier this year applied for a license to operate charter flights to Maldives, carrying tourists from Tel Aviv, will not be able to carry out its plans.
 
Sun D’Or International has had its license to operate as an airline revoked by the Israeli authorities.
 
The license was revoked after complaints were received that the company, registered independently of El Al, was continuing to use aircraft from the Israeli national carrier. Israel’s Civil Aviation Authority took away the airline’s license to operate saying that the carrier did not comply with international standards.
 
The news comes shortly after the Maldives Government indicated it was likely to approve services to Male. It was initially speculated that Maldives authorities were “highly likely” to approve the carrier to operate services from Israel to the Indian Ocean nation’s capital of Male.
