Alitalia operates a winter schedule of two daily flights from Israel to Italy. Alitalia decided earlier this year to close its TLV cargo office

Following the announcement made earlier this year by Alitalia that a decision had been made to close the company's cargo office in TLV, the company signed an agreement with Open Sky Cargo to act as their cargo GSA at Ben Gurion Airport.

Alitalia operates a winter schedule of two daily flights from Israel to Italy. A Milan flight at 05:35 and a Rome flight at 16:10. Summer schedule will add two daily flights to Italy.

Mr.David Kilstein Open Sky's director general said last week that: "despite the fact that Alitalia operates small A320 aircraft with maximum cargo capacity of 2 tons the fact that there are two daily flights, gives an advantage to local shippers not only in flight frequency but also in freight rates."

Open Sky is a long established GSA representing over 20 airlines in Israel. The company was set up in 1982 by Mr. Efraim Fortis and since has extended its services to aircraft chartering and through its cargo subsidiary to cargo operation. The company is part of the IDB/Ganden group.
