I.A.A, Israeli Airports Authority, published last week its January cargo and passengers report for Ben Gurion Airport.
The report indicate total of 584,677 passengers going through the airport and 6,229 aircraft movements.
Air cargo has recorded a sharp fall, 22,342 tons compared to 32,445 tons in January last year, a drop of 31.13%.
During January the Israeli Airports Authority handled some 9,549 tons of cargo, a drop of 9.95% compared to January 2008 (10,605 tons) while other cargo operators at the Ben Gurion Airport – Maman, Swissport and Ashdod Bonded – handled 12,793 tons, a drop of 41.4% compared to January 2008 (21,840 tons).
El Al recorded a drop of 33.9% in cargo carried compared to January 2008 while Turkish Airlines recorded a drop of 36.8%, Lufthansa was down 23%.
