Record numbers of passengers are expected to pass through Ben Gurion Airport throughout the holiday period, with 555,000 expected to fly between March 25 and April 8, a 19% increase in passengers and a 13% rise in flight numbers from Passover last year. some 3,500 aircraft are expected to take off and land, according to estimates by the Israel Airports Authority.
The Israel Airports Authority also expects about 50,000 passengers flying in and out of Eilat, similar to last year, and another 10,000 at Uvda Airport. The most popular destinations for the holiday are the United States, Turkey, Italy, Germany and France.
The Israel Airports Authority also noted that five new airlines are to commence flying from Israel: German Wings to Cologne Germany , Donbass Earo to Ukraine, Strategic Airlines Sas to France, Armavia to Armenia and Dnieproavia to Ukraine.
